For long now we very well know that the richest man in Africa is Aliko Dangote. Dangote is a Nigerian businessman and entrepreneur who is popularly known as the richest person in Africa residing in Africa but he is not the richest African.
The richest African is Elon Musk. You might wonder how Elon musk could be the richest African when the results, blogs, and articles you see online puts Dangote as the richest man in Africa. The richest man in Africa is the current second richest man in the world after Jeff Bezos which is Elon Musk.
Elon Musk isn’t popular as an African but he was born in Africa to a South African dad and a Canadian mother.
Elon was born on the 28th day of June in the year 1971 in Pretoria, South Africa to his father Errol Musk and mother Maye Musk. He was born and raised in South Africa before leaving Africa to his mother’s country Canada.
Elon grew up with his father after his parent divorced at his early age. He later decided to leave South Africa to further study in North America. He is currently the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla Motors with a net worth of over $160 billion.
Earlier this year Elon Musk surpassed Amazon founder Jeff Bezos to become the world’s richest man but is currently the second on the list as Bezos has taken back his position.
Although Elon Musk is not a black man and not a full African with both parents from African or of African descent or origin, his grandmother from his paternal side is of British origin. But as long as Elon Musk was born in South Africa to an African dad he is the richest African. He currently holds citizenship with South Africa, Canada, and the United States.
